Quokkas are adorable marsupials that are native to Rottnest Island and nowhere else in the world. Northbridge

Chinatown Northbridge Perth

Northbridge has a rich history and culture that dates to the 19th century when it was home to wealthy and influential people. Pinnacles Desert

Pinnacles Desert at night

Technically, this is not in the Greater Perth Area, but, if you haven’t heard of it before, Pinnacles Desert is a stunning area in Nambung National Park where thousands of limestone pillars rise from the yellow sand like ancient sculptures. It’s a sight that will take your breath away!

But how did these amazing formations come to be? Well, there are different theories about their origin, but one of them suggests that they are remnants of seashells that were broken down by wind and water over millions of years. Another theory says that they are casts of tree roots that were buried in sand and then hardened by calcium. Whatever their true story, they are worth seeing for yourself.

The best time to visit Pinnacles Desert is during sunrise or sunset, when the light creates beautiful shadows and colours on the landscape. You can also enjoy a stargazing experience at night, as there is little light pollution in this remote area. You can explore the desert by foot or by car, as there are walking trails and a scenic drive that take you around the pinnacles. There is also a Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre where you can learn more about the history and ecology of this unique place.

If you want to stay longer, you can camp at nearby Cervantes or Jurien Bay, which are coastal towns with lovely beaches and fishing spots. You can also join a guided tour from Perth that will take you to Pinnacles Desert and other attractions along the way, such as Yanchep National Park and Lancelin Sand Dunes.

Pinnacles Desert Western Australia is one of those places that you must see at least once in your life. It’s a natural wonder that will leave you speechless and amazed.
